Overview
The Youth Advisor plays a vital role in supporting and guiding young individuals in their personal, social, physical, and academic development. This position involves working closely with children and adolescents to foster a positive environment that encourages growth, learning, and self-confidence. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for working with youth and have a background in education, counseling, or related fields.

Duties

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to youth at the Regional Engagement Center.
  • Develop and implement engaging activities that promote teamwork, leadership, and personal development.
  • Offer support in academic subjects through tutoring and homework assistance.
  • Facilitate discussions on important life skills, values, and decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure the well-being of each child.
  • Maintain a safe environment by adhering to first aid protocols and ensuring proper supervision during activities.
  • Assist in organizing events such as theater productions or community service projects that enhance youth engagement.

Skills

  • Experience working with children or adolescents in settings such as camps, childcare, or tutoring environments.
  • Background in special education or counseling is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with youth and their families.
  • Ability to create inclusive activities that cater to diverse interests and backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of first aid practices to ensure the safety of all participants.
  • Experience in theater or performing arts is a plus for creative programming opportunities.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students are essential qualities for success in this role.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $18.75 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 30 per week
