The Accountant I is an entry-level position responsible for assisting the accounting department in creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization. Performs a variety of professional accounting functions including purchasing, bank reconciliations, and general ledger entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), to support month-end financial statement process of Regional Eye. Completes documentation and schedules during month-end and budget preparation.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
- Perform due diligence in the pricing, ordering, reconciliation, implementation of supply ordering systems for specific expenses within Regional Eye.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining electronic inventory system for the better management of assets, supplies and equipment.
- Serve as back up accounts payable, daily deposit entry, and biweekly payroll processor as needed.
- Maintain general ledger in order to complete and submit accurate financial data during month-end processes according to predetermined deadlines. Investigate and communicate variance issues to supervisor.
- Maintain daily communication (written and verbal) with the supervisor.
- Assist in the coordination of the budget.
- Coordinate and evaluate financial processes to maximize efficiency in the daily accounting operations. Ensure that internal control measures are followed.
- Perform accurate monthly general ledger and bank reconciliations.
- Develops and submits analytical financial data as needed by supervisor.
- Assist in completing and compiling financial support documentation for budget and monthly Board of Director meetings.
- Receives and answers all external and internal inquiries in a timely fashion.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
Education/Experience:
· B.S. degree with a major or concentration in Accounting or Finance
OR three years of accounting experience associate degree in accounting (A.A.S.)
· Three years accounting experience is preferred.
· Hospital or healthcare experience preferred.
· Intermediate or Advanced Excel skills and computerized accounting systems experience.

Pay: $48,253.23 - $63,111.41 per year
