Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years relevant experience, or associate’s degree and 3 years relevant experience. Supervisory experience a plus.

Physical Requirements: This position works in a typical office setting, but may be exposed to extreme temperatures in a warehouse setting. There may be extended periods of sitting, standing and/or bending; listening, talking and/or visual concentration; writing and/or computer use. This position would normally have routine opportunities to alter physical position or change eye focus. Occasional lifting and stacking of boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.

Position Summary: Provides support and oversight in the implementation of the Food Bank’s Children’s Programs (BackPack, School Pantry, Summer Backpack and Summer Food Service Program.) and additional programs as developed. This role is integral to enhancing departmental efficiency, fostering collaborative relationships across departments, and strengthening partnerships with community partners. The position requires an organized, detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple projects and follow-through on commitments, develop and maintain SOPs, and monitor emerging trends within the department and develop a response plan when necessary.

  • Oversee day to day operations of existing children’s programs
  • Collaborate with other departments to troubleshoot and enhance efficiency
  • Oversee new partner onboarding processes (Prescreen prospective partners, review applications, assign caseload)
  • Review completed site visits and follow-up as necessary
  • Optimize existing processes
  • Update external-facing materials as needed
  • Recognize emerging trends with existing partners and respond accordingly
  • Help get all SP partners onto PWW, understanding nuances of workarounds for software limitations and communicate effectively to partners
  • Working with Senior Director, research potential new programs to expand reach of division
  • For new programming, develop implementation/operational plan, communities to pilot, communication strategy, path to scale, etc.
  • Create and cultivate relationships with stakeholders within identified communities.
  • Work collaboratively with new partners to understand areas of improvement and best practices.
  • Develop and implement divisional SOPs, in alignment with other divisions/departments when necessary.
  • Maintain documentation of partner interactions, deliveries, and infractions.
  • Track divisional goals towards organizational strategic plan in conjunction with Senior Director of Children’s Programs
  • Works with Finance team to manage custodial funds and grants.
  • Assists with administration of various grants, including compliance and deliverables
  • Assist in the collection and aggregation of data and narrative creation for grant applications/reports
  • Ensure grant funds are spent by deadline
  • Monitor partners’ existing funding and provide requested updates
  • Send notification of awarded funds
  • Evaluate, select, and implement technology solutions to improve departmental efficiency.
  • Maintain fluency in various platforms (e.g., P2, Camtasia, Zoom, FastField, Foundant) and train the team on effective usage.
  • Update and manage online training resources, including the agency ordering and PWW2 training videos.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews, counseling, and other personnel tasks as needed.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely review and approval of employee’s time and time off through the timekeeping system.
  • Establish performance expectations and create schedules for team check-ins.
  • Monitor team performance, hold regular supervisory meetings, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative, service-oriented team environment aligned with the mission of the Food Bank.
  • Works independently and collaboratively in a team environment and with other employees and departments. Develops and maintains a deep understanding of our employees and the culture in support of the mission of the Food Bank.

The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley was founded in 1990 to expand and improve service to charitable agencies and donor partners in Orange, Ulster, Dutchess, Rockland, Sullivan, and Putnam counties. Working in partnership with the food industry, the Food Bank collects large donations of unmarketable but wholesome food and distributes it to non-profit programs feeding our neighbors in need in 23 counties. From the Canadian border to the New Jersey border, in urban, rural, and suburban communities, the Food Bank provided 50 million pounds of food and grocery items to nearly 1,000 partner agencies.
