Position Summary: Responsible for the development and daily implementation of all aspects of direct delivery programs aimed at increasing equitable service to underserved communities. This includes Mobile Pantry, Drive Thru Pantry, Mass Distribution, Just-In-Time delivery programs, Farm Stands, and other programs developed within the Food Bank’s innovation portfolio. The incumbent is also responsible for ongoing development, implementation and assessment of innovative programs to meet specific community needs. This position engages in a high level of cross departmental collaboration, working with colleagues in various roles, departments and expertise to achieve common goals.
Physical Requirements: This position works in a typical office setting but may be exposed to extreme temperatures in a warehouse setting. There may be extended periods of sitting, standing and/or bending, listening, talking and/or visual concentration, writing and/or computer use. This position would normally have routine opportunities for the employee to be able to alter their physical position or change eye focus. The position requires driving a cargo van and lifting and stacking of boxes weighing up to 50 pounds, as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works with the Director of Innovation and Opportunity to identify underserved communities that may benefit from the program within identified areas of need.
- Develops and cultivates relationships with stakeholders within identified communities to implement, support and sustain the programs.
- Develops and maintains a schedule of deliveries
- Places orders to meet nutritional/cultural needs of neighbors served by each program
- Develops and implements training and sustainability plan for each program.
- Develops program materials and works to advertise availability of the program.
- Works collaboratively with new sites so they understand best practices and sustainability.
- Works collaboratively with various stakeholders for best outcomes.
- Trains and supports groups of volunteers and partner organizations throughout program sites to ensure sustainable, efficient operations. Independently manages distributions in the absence of a partner to maintain seamless service delivery.
- Develop plans for program expansion
- Tracks data for each site.
- Loads and delivers orders, as needed.
- Ensure programs are advertised, with communications publicly and internally.
Engagement of Volunteers for Emerging Programs:
- Work in conjunction with the Volunteer Department developing and maintaining mobile volunteer network throughout these counties to recruit and deploy volunteers for Food Bank programs
- Maintain ongoing communication with volunteers
- Work collaboratively with Volunteer Services Team to track and engage volunteers
Priority Push Products:
- Collaborate with the Emerging Programs Manager of the Hudson Valley and warehouse operations to update and monitor the priority push list for product distribution.
- Work cross departmentally and lead effort to move priority product.
- Ensure all priority push products are on all large-scale distribution orders and all other appropriate Emerging Programs orders.
- Develop equitable targeted plan to communicate and problem solve procurement of priority push items to specific agencies based on needs, demographic, distribution schedule and other factors.
Management:
- Supports mobile pantry partners with fiscal responsibility and budget management.
- Contributions for employee feedback, support discussions, and transitions.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely review and approval of employee’s time and time off through the timekeeping system.
- Develops and maintains SOP’s and written agreements for emerging programs.
- Maintain familiarity with food bank trends within the Feeding America Network and explore new programs and opportunities.
- Communicate all scheduling changes with transportation.
Other duties:
- Works independently and collaboratively in a team environment and with other employees and departments. Develops and maintains a deep understanding of our employees and the culture in support of the mission of the Food Bank.
- Maintains a clean and safe workspace.
- Follows all safety standards and procedures.
- Adheres to the Food Bank’s Employee Code of Conduct.
- Works nights and weekends as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
