Professional Develop Specialist
A Brief Overview
Provides expertise in practice, development, education, quality, process improvement, and clinical leadership for the healthcare team, patients and family members. Insures research and evidence based practices in the clinical setting to achieve optimal patient outcomes and strategic goals of the organization. Acts as a clinical resource for staff and the leadership team to elevate practice and professionalism.
What you will do
- Models excellence and advanced nursing practice through the utilization of evidence based process
- Facilitates teams to maximize safety, efficiency, and cost-effective initiatives, incorporating the evaluation and implementation of innovative practices and technology.
- Insures processes, policies, and staff performance and development activities are consistent with current, recognized practice guidelines and regulatory standards.
- Promotes and facilitates continuous learning and development of staff through mentorship, coaching, modeling, and instruction using multiple learning modalities. Updates content appropriately.
- Coordinates staff orientation to insure successful, expedient transition to independent practice through ongoing evaluation and development of the content and structure of orientation, the preparation and effectiveness of preceptors, and the progression of new hires
- Collaborates with members of health care team to solve complex clinical situations and processes
- Coordinates resources and insures appropriate records for core certifications & competencies of specialty area
- Lead teams to develop content and process improvement initiatives to improve operations and practice
- Applies advanced knowledge with technical, interpersonal and critical thinking skills to maintain clinical competency and best practice in specialty area
- Adheres to established policies, compliance/quality improvement, safety, environment and infection control standards. Maintains confidentiality of information collected and reported in accordance with HIPAA/compliance policies and procedures.
- Provides direction and support to clinical staff in clinical decision making, priority setting, resuscitation, stabilization, crisis intervention and disaster preparedness and response.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree from an approved school/program. Required and
- Qualified by education, training or experience to work with the neonate, infant, toddler, pre-school, school-age, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patient population as specialty assignment dictates. Required
- Current licensure as Registered Nurse in State of Tennessee Required and
- Professional certification, specialty specific, (CCRN, CNOR, CNS, etc) Preferred
- At least 3 years experience of full-time equivalent experience in the assigned clinical area. Required and
- At least 1 year experience as a Professional Development Specialist or Advanced Practice Nurse Preferred
