Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Student Disability and Accessibility Services, the Coordinator of Student Accessibility Services provides reasonable accommodations and services to graduate, continuing education, and undergraduate students, both on campus and online. This position coordinates accommodations with faculty, residential life staff, the Registrar, and many online partners as needed to support the College's mission.
Functions:
Accommodated Testing Oversight
- Is responsible for the daily operation of the Accommodated Testing Center
- Oversees scheduling of all Graduate Interns and Work-Study Students to ensure proper coverage of testing center
- Manages work study budget and time off requests for all student employees
- Reviews academic integrity violation claims and works with faculty to navigate outcomes
Accommodation Case Management
- Serves as first line of response to all students who apply for services online or in person.
- Conducts telephone and in-person student intake meetings.
- Produces letters of accommodation and confidentially communicates accommodations to students, faculty, and individuals with a need to know on campus and online.
- Manages Housing Accommodation requests
Additional Responsibilities
- Assists in finding volunteer notetakers and supporting notetaking accommodations.
- Supports Director in meeting with students and parents, attending Orientation and Admissions events to answer questions regarding accessibility services, and co-leads professional development opportunities on campus.
- Supports programming initiatives within the department and works to bring new initiatives to the campus
- Performs other related duties as required and organizes and coordinates special programs as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- Multiple undergraduate work study students
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in education, psychology, disability studies, or another related field, required. Masters degree preferred.
- Ability to positively interact with a diverse population and uphold the Universitys commitment to inclusive excellence.
- Knowledge of, and interest in, the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act in relation to their impact on higher education.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to problem solve and find creative solutions in a fast paced, student centered, environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and to interact effectively with a wide variety of departments within the university.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team and to support campus-wide programs and initiatives.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
- Normal office environment, not subject to extreme variations of temperature, noise, odors, etc.
- May spend extended periods at terminal, on telephone, or operating other office machines, requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
- Generally, maintains a schedule of 9am-4:30pm but may require occasional evenings and weekends.
