Multimedia Design Specialist
Location: Rockville, MD (hybrid, 1 day per week in office)
Key skills: Video & audio editing, instructional design, visual design, storytelling
Experience: Bachelor's degree or higher with 3 years’ experience
Reports to: Manager of eLearning
*Candidates who are invited to interview will be tested on their course design abilities via a simple examination procedure with deliverables.
The Role
As part of the eLearning team, the Multimedia Design Specialist works collaboratively with the Education, Information Technology, and Marketing departments to assist in the development of tools that support our online learning and marketing initiatives. They will be responsible for eLearning/multimedia design and development, including creating and maintaining learning assets.
What you will do with us:
- Collaborate with the eLearning team to build courseware that meets RAPS standards for effective eLearning.
- Participate in the testing process to debug modules for quality assurance.
- Optimize user interfaces and user engagement with our courseware and additional learning tools.
- Assist with the management and administration of the Learning Management System (LMS), providing technical assistance and support materials for end users and internal clients when needed.
- Provide multimedia support within the Education department for blended learning programs.
- Work on teams to meet project goals and take the lead on certain projects as necessary.
What you will bring to succeed:
- Strong multimedia skills, including video/audio editing and encoding as well as web development (html)
- Proven track record of delivering timely projects to specification within budgetary constraints and under limited supervision
- Demonstrated attention to detail while working on multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Openness to learning and adapting to new technologies
- Affinity for collaborative cross-functional teamwork
- Proactive mindset with creative problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based applications
Preferred:
- Knowledge of non-linear editing platforms
- Experience using Articulate Storyline or similar eLearning software
- Proficiency with Adobe creative suite
- Prior professional experience working with an LMS
- Knowledge of xAPI
- Experience with video editing and animation
