POSITION: Elementary Math Coach - 2025-2026
LOCATION: Reidville Elementary School
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid SC certification in elementary
- Master’s degree required
REPORTS TO: Director of Instructional Services and Building Administrator(s)
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Math Coach will support all staff in the implementation of the math program. The Coach will work directly with teachers in a school providing classroom-based demonstrations, collaborative and one-on-one support, and facilitating teacher inquiry and related professional development. The Coach will focus on enhancing teachers’ ability to provide instruction that builds students’ sense of engagement in the ownership of learning. The Coach will also work with administrators and teachers to collect and analyze data, interpret, and use it to guide instructional decisions.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend all required professional development as required by the SDE and the district and stay current with education research and trends, sharing resources and strategies with staff
- Provide ongoing coaching, modeling, and feedback to support high-quality teaching practices
- Analyze student achievement data to inform instruction and identify areas for growth as well as training teachers in data analysis and using data to differentiate instruction
- Assist in the development and implementation of curriculum and instructional materials and develop benchmarks and assessments
- Facilitate professional development workshops and training sessions based on best practices and identified needs
- Conference with teachers regarding strategies, lesson planning, and interventions, and supporting teachers in differentiating instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Analyze student work to determine progress towards goals and next steps
- Maintain accurate records of coaching cycles and professional development activities
- Take a leadership role in the MTSS process for identifying students that need intervention and the progress monitoring of those students
- Participate in school leadership meetings and contribute to school improvement
- Assist in the planning and implementation of STEM activities and parent nights highlighting Math and Science
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary or Early Childhood education, or related field (Master’s Degree preferred)
- Valid SC teaching certificate
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years of successful teaching experience at the Elementary level
- Strong knowledge of effective instructional strategies in mathematics
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of adult learning
- Effective training and presentation skills
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Conducts duties in a classroom environment with no significant exposure to environmental conditions. Requires ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require constant attention and working with students. Physical demands are restricted to classroom work requiring lifting/moving of items up to 25 pounds. Occasional local travel is required; no overnight travel is required. Job requires the operation of standard office equipment.
