Academic Support Teacher
Position: Middle/High School Academic Coach
Reports To: Middle/High School Counseling Director
Status: Full Time, Exempt
Schedule: 41 Weeks (August - May)

Job Summary:
The Middle/High School (MS/HS) Academic Coach supports the school’s counseling program by providing individualized, small-group, and classroom instruction focused on academic success and study skills. This role helps students develop attitudes, skills, and subject knowledge that foster both academic excellence and Christ-like character. Additionally, the Academic Coach plays a key role in identifying and supporting students' social and emotional well-being.

Demonstrates spiritual and organizational leadership.
Master’s degree in Education, School Counseling, and/or Counseling Psychology (preferred).
ACSI Certification (or willingness to obtain and maintain).
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with students, parents, and faculty.
Ability to think and act strategically while managing multiple tasks.
Proficiency in Google Education Suite and Microsoft Office.
Professional demeanor with a servant-hearted approach.
Essential Functions:
Instruction and Student Support (60%)
Provide academic coaching and instruction in individual, small-group, and classroom settings.
Teach Middle School Study Skills classes, equipping students with effective learning strategies.
Maintain relevant student academic and counseling documentation in FACTS.
Monitor and support student progress in collaboration with teachers and administration.
Assist in identifying academic program offerings and enhancements.
Act as a liaison between administration and faculty regarding student discipline, social-emotional needs, and academic concerns.
Support Student Learning Services by writing and maintaining student accommodation plans and facilitating teacher/parent meetings as needed.
Assist with MS/HS Academic Success programs, helping students stay on track for high school readiness.
Provide guidance on college and career exploration opportunities.
Assist with administering standardized testing, including ASVAB, PSAT, PreACT, ACT, and AP exams.
General Responsibilities
Provide classroom instruction as needed.
Assist with school events, field trips, and special programs.
Maintain flexibility and a team-oriented approach to supporting school initiatives.
Physical and Safety Requirements:
This is a safety-sensitive position; employees may be required to undergo drug and alcohol testing.
Ability to stand, walk, and move within a classroom setting for extended periods.
Lift and carry materials up to 25–30 lbs as needed.
Bend, kneel, and reach to assist students and manage classroom materials.
Utilize manual dexterity for handling educational tools, technology, and documentation.
Maintain clear verbal communication and hearing abilities for effective student and staff interactions.
Visual acuity to read instructional materials, maintain student records, and monitor student engagement.
Ability to navigate the school environment and respond to student needs efficiently.
