Job Objective: The EHS Specialist is responsible for promoting a culture of safety and compliance by partnering with operations and leadership teams to identify, assess, and mitigate risks in the workplace. This role ensures compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT, and assists in the development and implementation of safety programs. The EHS Specialist will lead efforts to reduce operational risks, conduct safety audits, provide training, and drive continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental practices to support the company's safety and environmental goals.
Safety Management
- Assist in planning and implementing safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, DOT, and other relevant agencies.
- Advise the Safety Director and leadership on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.
- Conduct post-accident investigations, prepare reports identifying causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform safety audits and inspections, prepare written reports of findings, and follow up to ensure corrective or preventive measures are implemented.
- Develop and upgrade safety programs in response to evolving regulatory requirements and company needs.
Environmental Compliance
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), stormwater permits, SPCC, and other applicable laws.
- Assist in maintaining environmental reports and participate in corporate environmental, health, and safety audits at various locations.
- Work with corporate teams to provide accurate EHS information for governmental reporting and inspections.
Training and Development
- Assess safety training needs and plan, document, and track completion and adherence to training programs.
- Assist in the development of safety training materials and deliver safety training to teams.
- Ensure that all associates receive mandated training from regulatory agencies, company policies, and clients, including annual, routine, and job-specific training.
Auditing and Reporting
- Maintain safety files and records using Smart Sheets and other tools.
- Utilize safety software for tracking training, incidents, hours worked, and other required documentation.
- Assist with compliance for all third-party safety-related activities (ISN, BROWZ).
- Support regular safety meetings, presenting safety updates and training to both small and large groups of employees.
Risk Reduction
- Partner with operations teams to identify and mitigate workplace risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop solutions for reducing risks associated with daily operations.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to health, safety, and environmental practices.
- Represent the company in a professional manner at all times, ensuring quality customer service.
- Abide by all company policies, rules, and regulations, including safety protocols.
- Maintain confidentiality of personnel and safety records.
- Work overtime as needed.
- Regular travel required, approximately 40-50% of the time.
- At least two years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education
- Prefer experience in OSHA, MSHA, DOT and EPA regulatory requirements.
- Excellent Computer skills, proficient in (Office, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage associates at all levels.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Capability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Must have a valid current driver's license.
- Must be available and willing to work such weekends and holidays as the employer determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

- Walking: move about inside the office and/or branch facilities as well as airport/travel needs
- Sit/Stand: Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50 percent of the time
- Capable of traveling as required up to 50% of the time
Other Requirements:
- You must reside in the MST Time Zone
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a safety professional is strongly preferred.
