Responsibilities

The Director of Human Resources will provide effective managerial support to the organization with specific responsibility for the design, implementation, administration, and ongoing evaluation of all policies and programs relating to Employee Relations, Labor Relations, Recruiting, Comp/Benefits, and Workers Compensation. Advise executive management with regard to short, medium, and long-range planning as it pertains to the key areas of accountability.

 

Responsibilities: Formulate, direct, and implement Human Resources policies throughout the organization and ensure consistent adherence.

 

Recruitment and Retention:

  • Establish staffing goals in conjunction with executive management coincident with corporate programs and strategies.
  • Coordinate all staffing efforts providing expertise in the interviewing, selection, and hiring processes ensuring the proper “fit” of the person to the job.
  • Select and contract with recruitment firms when necessary with responsibility to negotiate all terms and conditions.
  • Plan and conduct new employee orientations to foster a positive transition into the organization. Train HR Admins in effective recruiting and retention practices.
  • Conduct exit interviews with exiting employees to determine reasons behind separations and develop action plans when appropriate to continually drive down turnover in the organization.
  • Monitor recruiting and turnover statistics regularly and discuss accordingly with Divisional staff.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Research, design, and implement programs for the purpose of fair and competitive compensation as they relate to salary, bonus, medical, vacation, etc.
  • Install and continually evaluate an effective performance management and salary administration program providing guidance as required to executive and senior management to ensure fair and consistent administration and employee development.
  • Monitor and manage costs associated with all programs to identify trends. Advise executive management and take appropriate actions to control expenditures.
  • Conduct comparative analyses between programs and plan years to proactively respond to significant changes and to maintain equity.
  • Consult regularly with the Plant Managers/President on the performance and costs associated with employee benefit programs. Gauge carrier performance and utilize whatever resources available to resolve employee insurance matters.
  • Serve as liaison between insurance brokers and Southwark in providing data for renewals, problem resolution, and company contact.

Employee/Labor Relations:

  • Direct the employee relations program in providing and ensuring consistent adherence to the company policies/procedures. Maintain overall responsibility for development and interpretation of policies.
  • Effectively monitor and anticipate training needs for the organization. Develop action plans for its implementation.
  • Communicates and trains divisional staff on promoting healthy associate relations across all levels.
  • Meets with shop stewards and Plant supervision to resolve grievances.
  • Serve as point of contact for all agency inquiries.
  • Ensure relevant activities are in place to remain union free. Monitor and adjust accordingly

Organizational Development:

  • Counsels executive and senior management on significant organizational assignments and changes and assists in their strategic implementation.
  • Designs and directs training activities within the organization for both plant and office personnel to align with compliance, development, and growth strategies. Monitor all costs and measure effectiveness
  • Work with Plant Managers in identifying and developing succession planning actions. Assist in preparation of training, education, or other plans as required.

  • Meet special needs of the organization in response to changes in current legislation. Develop policies and programs as needed ensuring implementation, education, and compliance.

Compensation

  • $100,000 - $125,000 / year
  • Annual performance based bonus

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources or a related field with strong business acumen
  • 10-15 years of progressively responsible experience in the major human resources functions, including workers comp, risk management, compensation/benefits, and labor relations
  • Requires tact and professionalism in dealing with all levels of associates

CIMOLAI-HY is a structural steel fabrication plant located in Olean, New York. When operational, the plant will produce 65,000 in estimated annual tonnage focusing on steel fabrication in support of development projects. The proximity of the plant supports various projects in New York City, Boston, Detroit, Chicago, Toronto, Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia.
