What are the responsibilities and job description for the Foster Care Specialist position at Release Inc?
Foster Care Specialists provide direct support and services to foster families and the children placed in their homes.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support and oversight of foster and kinship homes, including 24-hour crisis intervention.
- Develop service plans for children and families, reinforce and support efforts to carry out the service plan and intervention strategies.
- Facilitate communication of information between foster/kinship parents, case management, attorneys, birth families, and other case parties.
- Adhere to confidentiality requirements and ensure maintenance of confidentiality of program records and communication.
- Provide culturally relevant and trauma-informed services to children and families.
- Complete all required paperwork and follow agency policies and procedures within specific timeframes.
- Acquire and develop resources to meet the identified needs of children and foster families.
- Meet outcomes that exceed standards and provide excellent services to families.
- Other duties as assigned/requested.
Reports to: Foster Care Director
A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or a closely related field is required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Knowledge of foster care, juvenile court, child abuse, and family systems.
- Ability to understand and follow regulations and procedures.
- Knowledge of resources available within the community.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and self-manage multiple demands.
- Due to the unique needs of the families, we serve, this role does not have a predictable schedule. Staff have the flexibility to manage their own time to create a positive work-life balance, but there will be evening, and weekend work required as well as significant travel time to visit families in their homes. Possession of a driver’s license and a reliable vehicle are required.
