Purpose of Position:
The primary function of the Cyber Threat Support Intern is to support the design of exercises that will be used to build/test/assess the resilience or effectiveness of the electric utility companies in our footprint. The Cyber Threat Support Intern will contribute to several critical projects that will support the efficiency, organization, and value delivered by the Entity Engagement team. This position will work closely with a small team of experienced field experts in the utility industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop an understanding of the power industry and of operational technology environments
- Research current threats to the bulk power grid and develop/modify realistic incident response scenarios[CE1] for external use by utility companies, typically in the style of tabletop gameplay
- Critically review current assessments, provide meaningful feedback for improvement of incident response assessment tools, and assist in updating current assessment tools
- Support data management within Entity Engagement department through improving documentation and drafting standard operating procedures
Qualifications:
- Pursuing degree in IT, Cyber Security, Data Science, and/or Business Analytics
- Excellent research skills and ability to implement research into assessment tools
- Understanding of Tabletop Exercises or experience with Role Playing Games (RPG)
- Understanding of simple front end HTML content formatting
- Experience with data sets, data management, and data structures in Excel, Python, or other similar software
Desirable:
- Creativity in problem-solving and tabletop scenario improvements
- Strong presentation skills, specifically with the ability to explain a scenario and guide participants through and exercise
- Interest in graphic design or policy work
