Traveling Construction Superintendent

Primary responsibilities for initial project will be per the below
PRECONSTRUCTION
A. Review plans and specifications (general familiarization).
1. Determine sequence of activities.
2. Establish utility (temporary) requirements and locations.
3. Establish locations for temporary facilities and staging.
4. Construct preliminary outline.
B. Mobilization
1. Set job-site offices and facilities.
2. Post all required EOE material, OSHA poster, safety documents.
3. Install site perimeter fencing and post all signage.
4. Install phones, temporary power, water.
5. Contact and have all locates established.
6. Make certain all necessary permits are obtained (building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, burn, de-watering, erosion control, abatement, sidewalk, traffic plan, etc.).
7. Notify all subcontractors of job set-up and establish pre-construction meeting.
8. Conduct a more detailed review of drawings and specifications.
a. Look for discrepancies and areas lacking detail. Begin the RFI process ahead of time.
b. Seek our Value Engineering prospects of area where substitutions may benefit everyone.
c. Potential sequencing problems to avoid.
d. Products which could be long lead items.
e. Subcontractor coordination requirements.
f. Weather requirements, i.e. additional shoring or bracing, heat, air distribution, drainage, etc.
9. Finalize the Schedule with the Project Manager.
10. Review the written contracts and scope of each subcontractor (notify PM of any discrepancies).
11. Establish field filing system.
12. Review all MSDS and safety material, establish site specific materials.
C. Safety
1. Indoctrinate new arrivals to site.
2. Meeting (weekly), submit copy to office for filing.
3. Point out potential areas and appoint responsible party to identify and correct Daily visual inspections.
D. Construction
1. Conduct daily inspections, should include the following:
a. Brief discussion with each trade supervisor to determine manpower requirements, the day’s work schedule, areas of potential problems, coordination with other trades, safety, and the transfer of documents.
2. Oversee the General Contractor’s labor forces, this should include the following:
a. Lay out forces daily on work to be accomplished.
b. Order materials in a timely fashion to maximize labor efficiency.
c. Check work for accuracy and quality.
d. Maintain accurate time sheets or logs.
e. Verify the use of proper safety techniques and equipment.
3. Update the primary schedule on a weekly basis.
4. Establish the 2-week Look Ahead Schedule and distribute to contractors and review prior to forwarding to Owner.
5. Conduct the weekly supervisor’s meeting.
6. Conduct the weekly site safety meeting.
7. Conduct the weekly Owner’s coordination meeting with the Project Manager.
8. Maintain the primary schedule by assuming that subcontractors know and meet proposed schedule times (this includes inspections).
9. Schedule and coordinate inspections.
10. Schedule and coordinate testing.
11. Conduct prep meeting with each subcontractor.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
