Job Summary:
The QI/QA Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and implementing quality assurance and improvement initiatives within the agency’s mental health programs. This role ensures compliance with state regulations, accreditation standards, and agency policies while identifying areas for improvement in service delivery and client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with DMAS, DBHDS, Medicaid, and other regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular chart audits, reviewing clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to guidelines.
- Develop and update policies and procedures to align with state and federal regulations.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, licensing reviews, and accreditation processes.
- Investigate and address compliance violations or documentation discrepancies.
Quality Improvement & Program Development:
- Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance client care and agency efficiency.
- Analyze client data and service trends to identify areas for program enhancement.
- Conduct client satisfaction surveys and staff feedback assessments to improve service quality.
- Implement strategies to reduce errors, improve documentation accuracy, and enhance treatment outcomes.
- Facilitate performance improvement projects and track measurable outcomes.
Training & Staff Development:
- Provide training to staff on documentation standards, compliance updates, and best practices.
- Educate employees on ethical guidelines, HIPAA, and other quality-related topics.
- Assist in onboarding new clinical staff with compliance training.
Risk Management & Incident Reporting:
- Oversee incident reporting and investigations, ensuring appropriate follow-up actions.
- Develop and maintain a risk management plan to address potential agency liabilities.
- Ensure confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in all client-related matters.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, social work, psychology, public health, or a related field. Master’s preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 2-3 years in quality assurance, compliance, or program management within a mental health, behavioral health, or healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of Medicaid regulations, DBHDS/DMAS guidelines, and accreditation processes (CARF, Joint Commission, etc.).
- Experience with EHR systems, data analysis, and documentation review.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in community-based mental health services (e.g., MHSS, IIH, PSR, Crisis Services).
- Certification in Quality Improvement or Compliance (e.g., CPHQ, CHC) is a plus.
