Overall Duties
The Residential Aid plays a key role in providing direct care and support to individuals living in a residential mental health program. This role includes assisting residents with daily activities, promoting personal growth, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment that encourages recovery and independence. The Residential Aid is responsible for fostering a positive and nurturing atmosphere while working closely with other staff members to meet the individual needs of residents.

Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on support to residents with daily tasks, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication reminders, and transportation.
- Create and maintain a safe and supportive living environment for all residents. Assist in implementing personalized care plans in collaboration with clinical staff.
- Facilitate and participate in group activities designed to build life skills, improve coping mechanisms, and promote socialization.
- Monitor residents’ emotional and physical well-being, reporting any concerns or changes to the appropriate team members.
- Help de-escalate challenging situations using approved crisis intervention techniques.
- Ensure that residential areas are clean, organized, and conducive to mental health recovery.
- Support residents in achieving and maintaining independence through the development of personal goals and positive routines.
- Ensure compliance with program rules and provide guidance as needed to support residents’ success.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including daily progress notes and incident reports.
- Participate in staff meetings and continuous professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Experience in mental health, social services, or a related field is preferred.
- A genuine passion for working with individuals facing mental health challenges and a commitment to supporting their recovery journey.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with residents.
- Calm, respectful, and professional approach to handling difficult situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, walk, and assist residents with mobility when required.
- Occasional lifting of up to [X] pounds.
- Ability to work in various environments, including both indoor and outdoor settings.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract
Pay: $18.99 - $22.87 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
