Sr. Buyer

Reports To: Chris Merkle, Supply Chain Manager

Job Summary: Remtec is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to manage, grow and diversify the procurement of materials and services essential for our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset, a strong background in the semiconductor and/or electronics industry, excellent negotiation skills, and is comfortable utilizing for all procurement and data driven decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and document procurement processes and strategies for materials and services, consistent with ISO and AS9100 requirements, to support manufacturing operations, inclusive of:
  1. Purchasing functions. 
  2. Selecting suppliers.
  3. Competitively negotiate contracts.
  4. Identifying and mitigating risks.
  5. New supplier sourcing and qualifications.
  6. Demand forecasting of inventory items and outside services.
• Provide supplier and marketplace experience to grow and manage our supplier base. 
  1. Stay informed about supplier capabilities, and emerging technologies.
  2. Hands-on Identification and qualification of potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish long-term partnerships.
  3. Ensure supply base compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  4. Identify opportunities for risk mitigation with suppliers.
  5. Structure cost savings and beneficial payment terms with suppliers.
  6. Monitor market trends to identify opportunities for cost savings and supply chain optimization. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and quality assurance, to align procurement activities with company goals.
  1. Proactively Interface with Engineering as obsolescence and lead time issues are uncovered
  2. Facilitate with MRP processes via Epicor ERP.
  3. Monitor inventory levels and place orders to replenish stocks as needed while avoiding excess or insufficient inventory.
  4. Work with the Finance dept. as need to reconcile invoices.
  5. Work with Quality dept. to resolve all supplier quality issues.
  6. Contribute to NPI projects to ensure product specifications are met, ensure that supplier requirements are clear and documented.
  7. Ensure that customer requirements flow down to suppliers where appropriate and confirm supplier documentation accordingly.
• Manage and support all functions of the procurement team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  1. Lead and mentor a small team of procurement professionals and develop opportunities to enhance team performance.
  2. Oversee RFQ activities, analyzes quotations against specifications and selects suppliers with the proper capabilities to support goods and services.
  3. Maintain comprehensive records of all purchasing activities, including procurement requests, purchase orders, and spending analysis.
  4. Monitor PO status starting with internal approvals, through vendor acknowledgement and final delivery.
  5. Ensure adherence to purchasing policies and procedures.
  6. Negotiate annual price reductions and improved payment terms.
  7. Monitor and manage procurement budgets and expenditures.
  8. Assist in the procurement of materials and services required for production.
  9. Process purchase requisitions, maintain accurate records, and create purchase orders.
• Analyze procurement data, prepare reports, and present KPI’s to senior management, inclusive of: 
  1. Procurement activities.
  2. Cost reductions and lead time savings.
  3. Supplier on-time performance metrics and scorecards.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in procurement, preferably in the semiconductor and/or electronics industry.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to develop and execute procurement strategies.
• Advanced proficiency with ERP procurement tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate as part of a team, and provide leadership to others.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in a related field.
• Professional supply chain certification (e.g., CPSM, CPIM).
• Experience with Epicor ERP.
