We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join a dynamic growing construction company. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, providing strategic financial guidance, and ensuring the company's financial health and regulatory compliance. This role is integral to managing costs, improving profitability, and supporting long-term growth in the construction industry.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and budgeting.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to safeguard company assets.
- Prepare annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
- Monitor actual financial performance against budgets, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Generate accurate and timely financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and project cost analyses.
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior management for strategic decision-making.
- Maintain job costing systems to monitor project budgets, costs, and profitability.
- Collaborate with project managers to track and control construction costs and ensure project margins are met.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and industry standards.
- Coordinate audits, tax filings, and insurance renewals.
- Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Manage and mentor the finance team, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Foster cross-departmental collaboration to optimize financial processes.
- Monitor cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs and capital projects.
- Manage relationships with banks, lenders, and other financial institutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA designation a plus!).
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in financial management, preferably within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including percentage of completion accounting.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, QuickBooks, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Exceptional leadership and communication abilities.
- Experience with contract management and cost control is a plus.
Salary : $100,000 - $130,000
