Position Overview:
The Plant Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial activities at the plant level, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and supporting the plant's operational efficiency through cost management, budgeting, and financial analysis. This role plays a critical part in the decision-making process, collaborating with plant leadership to drive financial performance and maintain compliance with company policies and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare and present accurate financial statements, monthly/quarterly financial reports, and analysis for the plant.
- Monitor plant financial performance against budget, forecast, and historical trends.
- Provide financial insights to support decision-making and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Cost Management:
- Track, control, and report on plant costs including labor, materials, overhead, and production expenses.
- Conduct variance analysis to explain differences between actual costs and budgeted/standard costs.
- Identify and recommend cost-reduction strategies and efficiency improvements.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Lead the plant's budgeting process, working with operational teams to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Update forecasts regularly and provide insights on potential financial risks and opportunities.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Oversee plant audits and work closely with external auditors during the annual audit process.
Inventory & Capital Management:
- Oversee inventory control processes, including tracking inventory levels, cost of goods sold, and the accuracy of physical counts.
- Support capital expenditure planning and manage fixed asset records.
Team Collaboration & Leadership:
- Work closely with plant management and department heads to understand operational challenges and provide financial insights.
- Train and mentor accounting and finance staff in plant-level financial processes.
- Partner with operations to ensure the efficient and effective use of resources.
Strategic Support:
- Provide financial analysis to support key business decisions such as pricing, production schedules, and investment in new equipment.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support plant operational goals with actionable financial data.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA is a plus).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a financial role, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting in a plant or manufacturing setting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (ERP experience preferred).
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial personnel.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Qualifications:
Salary : $118,200 - $146,900
