We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to oversee critical accounting functions, commissions, month-end transactions, and sales tax compliance. The ideal candidate will ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across these areas, while also driving technology improvements to streamline processes. This position plays a key role in supporting payroll accuracy, financial reporting, and tax filings, and will contribute to the overall success of the accounting team by enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring timely, accurate financial data.
Job Responsibilities :
- Ensure the accurate and timely completion of all month-end journal entries.
- Perform detailed account reconciliations and process accounting entries.
- Prepare shipped-not-invoiced entries and contribute to the continuous improvement of the month-end close process.
- Ensure timely updates of all sales commissions in the system, reflecting monthly changes.
- Enter new sales employees and update commission structures based on HR data and payroll changes.
- Verify accurate commission payments through payroll and implement process improvements to automate and enhance accuracy.
- Load and analyze data accounting software into company platforms ensuring correct models and account assignments.
- Identify and resolve potential issues within the software system.
- Ensure the SAP Fixed Asset sub-ledger is balanced, with updated dimensions and monthly depreciation.
- Close internal orders and convert them into new fixed assets, ensuring proper tracking.
- Maintain new assets, ensuring updates for changes, transfers, and disposals.
- Prepare monthly fixed asset reconciliations and reports as needed.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of customer accounts in SAP, ensuring adherence to financial standards.
- Maintain accurate dimensions for each customer to support month-end reporting and sales commissions.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of processes for improved customer data management.
- Perform detailed sales tax reconciliations by state, county, or city as needed.
- Process sales tax returns using Vertex, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
- Complete related journal entries for sales tax compliance and ensure timely state payments.
- Support process improvement initiatives and strategic projects within the Accounting Department.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
- 5 years of accounting experience, including fixed asset management and SAP Cash experience.
- Proficiency in SAP and systems, with the ability to accurately analyze and load data.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Experience in implementing technology-based process improvements is a plus.
