Join Our Adventure Program Team for the 2025-2026 School Year!
We are seeking qualified, enthusiastic individuals to join our Adventure Program team for the 2025-2026 school year (August 2025–May 2026). Some opportunities may also be available starting in April and May 2025.
About the Role
As an Adventure Trip Leader, you will guide students in grades 6–12 on unforgettable outdoor experiences throughout Colorado and neighboring states. Trips are typically 4 days long (Tuesday–Friday) and are based out of Castle Rock, Colorado, with most trips occurring in early fall (August–October) and late spring (April–May).
This is an independent contractor position with seasonal work. For local candidates, additional opportunities may include day trips within school hours, featuring activities such as hiking, rock climbing, and snowshoeing.
Responsibilities
As a trip leader, you’ll:
- Supervise students in both frontcountry and backcountry settings.
- Drive buses to and from program locations (bus training provided).
- Prepare and cook meals for students.
- Teach Leave No Trace (LNT) principles and outdoor education topics.
- Facilitate games, activities, and classes to engage students.
- Pack, load, and unload gear for trips.
- Lead outdoor activities such as:
- Rock climbing
- Hiking
- Backpacking
- Canyoneering
- Canoeing
- Rafting
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who:
- Has experience and passion for outdoor education and guiding, with a dedication to helping students overcome challenges and connect with nature.
- Possesses strong adventure skills and a well-rounded outdoor background.
- Demonstrates risk management expertise, including assessing weather and making sound decisions in dynamic environments.
- Holds or is able to obtain a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification before the start date.
Preferred Certifications (a plus but not required):
- AMGA Single Pitch Instructor
- AIARE Avalanche Certification
- Swiftwater Rescue Certification
- Leave No Trace (LNT) Master Educator
