the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Managing PE to lead and oversee engineering aspects of large-scale solar projects (5-100 MW). This role is ideal for a technical leader with a strong background in power system studies, design, and compliance within the renewable energy sector. The successful candidate will provide technical guidance, ensure project execution meets industry standards, and support development and construction teams on high-impact solar projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead electrical engineering efforts for utility-scale solar projects ranging from 5 MW to 100 MW.
- Perform and review electrical studies using ETAP, SKM, or similar software for load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and grounding analysis.
- Provide engineering leadership and technical expertise to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, NFPA) and local/state regulations.
- Support interconnection applications, utility coordination, and project permitting processes.
- Oversee design development, equipment selection, and technical specifications for solar and BESS projects.
- Manage and mentor engineering teams, reviewing work to maintain high technical standards.
- Collaborate with EPCs, developers, and project managers to optimize designs and ensure constructability.
- Support due diligence efforts for project acquisitions, feasibility studies, and risk assessment.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Professional Engineer (PE) in Electrical Engineering (Required).
- Proven experience working on utility-scale solar projects (5-100 MW).
- Strong proficiency in power system analysis tools such as ETAP, SKM, or similar.
- Experience working on projects in Texas is highly preferred.
- Deep understanding of electrical system design, interconnection processes, and grid compliance.
- Ability to lead and manage engineering teams while collaborating with multidisciplinary stakeholders.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Knowledge of protection & control, relay coordination, and SCADA integration.
- Prior leadership experience in engineering management or technical direction roles.
