The ideal candidate will have a strong attendtion to detail, excellent problem-solving skiills, and the ability to produce high-quality finished products.
Essential Functions:
Machine Setup & Operation:
Set up and operate OD and ID grinding machines to perform precision grinding operations on gears, shafts, and other cylindrical components.
Select appropriate grinding wheels, tooling, and machine settings based on material type, blueprint specifications, and required surface finish.
Balance and dress grinding wheels as needed to ensure precision and efficiency.
Blueprint Reading & Quality Control:
Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to determine grinding parameters.
Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and CMMs to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
Maintain strict adherence to quality standards, identifying and correcting defects before they impact production.
Process Optimization & Troubleshooting:
Adjust feeds, speeds, and grinding techniques to optimize cycle times while maintaining part integrity.
Troubleshoot grinding-related issues, including chatter, burn, and dimensional inconsistencies.
Work with engineering and quality teams to refine grinding processes and improve efficiency.
Equipment Maintenance & Safety:
Perform routine maintenance on grinding machines, including lubrication, coolant management, and wheel changes.
Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
