Job Title: Landscaping Maintenance Crew Lead
Classification: Seasonal - Full Time, Hourly
Reno Green Landscaping Inc. is seeking a Landscaping Maintenance Crew Lead to work in our maintenance department. Overall Purpose:
The Landscaping Maintenance Crew Lead will be responsible for the cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds surrounding a business or building by using hand, power tools, or equipment. Workers typically perform a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, pulling weeds, and sprinkler maintenance. This position will be responsible for leading crews of 2 or more people, so collaboration and good communication is vital. Leadership skills is needed to monitor and evaluate projects performed by his/her crew.
Duties:
- Clean facilities or sites.
- Dispose of trash or waste materials and recycle them into their assigned areas.
- Plant greenery to improve landscape appearance.
- Remove snow.
- Rake, mulch, and compost leaves.
- Mow and edge lawns, using power mowers or edgers.
- Trim or pick flowers and clean flower beds.
- Attach wires from planted trees to support stakes.
- Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls.
- Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws.
- Water lawns, trees, or plants, using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or watering cans.
- Operate vehicles or powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chain-saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, or pruning saws.
- Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes.
- Use a backpack sprayer to apply pesticides.
- Makes sure to teach the crew how to properly use all tools and machines properly and safely
- Makes sure to teach the crew how to properly mow the lawn; prune/trim trees and shrubs; plant flowers; and any other tasks assigned to them
- Use company tablets and/or phone to properly clock in/clock out the crew
- assign tasks/jobs for landscaping maintenance laborers to follow
- Fill out and conduct employee reviews/evaluations at 90 days/yearly and making sure it is submitted to HR in a timely manner
- Will monitor crews attendance, PTO requests, vacation requests and efficiently communicate them with HR/Payroll
- Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications:
- Able to follow directions
- Must have a valid and clean NV drivers license
- Must have a strong work ethic and able to prioritize daily tasks
- An OSHA card is a plus, but no necessary.
