ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client, a family resort located in Napa County, is seeking a Financial Controller. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the hospitality industry and will be responsible for maintaining daily accounting operations. This role also involves collaborating with management on financial decisions and strategic planning for the success of the resort. Position is onsite.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Monitor daily financial function including preparation of financial statements, income statements, balance sheets and cash flow reports.
• Maintaining annual budget and budget vs. actual reporting, forecasting.
• Responsibility for all aspects of accounting including internal controls, accounts payable, general ledger review, bank reconciliation review, profit and loss, and corporate credit cards).
• Adherence to timely and accurate monthly close package review and completion.
• Ensures policies and procedures are in place that provide for strong internal controls and adherence to GAAP.
• Prepare tax workpapers and estimates in compliance with state and local regulations.
• Oversee audit and cash flow management for funds.
• Maintain and manage current bank relationships to ensure accurate financials.
• Collaborate with external CPA firm on accurate documentation of financials.
• Managing and providing leadership and training to current accounting and hotel staff.

WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• CPA or Advanced Degree preferred
• Solid understanding and working knowledge of GAAP and financial statements
• Strong management, organizational, and analytical skills
• Possess well-developed interpersonal and communication, verbal, and written skills
• Adherence to the highest level of integrity and confidentiality
• Proficient with implementing large ERP systems (ie: NetSuite, Sage)
