POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Cost Accountant at Rensa Filtration is a role that will have a direct impact on the success of multiple parts of the organization. Reporting directly to the Regional Controller, the Cost Accountant will play an integral role in the accounting and finance function of multiple locations under Rensa Filtration. A primary emphasis of this position will be assistance in the timely completion of the month end close. Reviewing and analyzing month end results to ensure accurate financial statement presentation is a key responsibility. Additional duties include becoming a subject matter expert on maintaining the costing system of the plants, taking a key role in the timely completion of the annual audit, coordinating year-end inventory counts, and taking on additional projects as the organization continues to evolve not only through acquisitions but also organic growth. The Cost Accountant will be expected to not only maintain existing processes but also drive efficiencies in a fast-paced environment. The position calls for a high energy person who is inquisitive and a detailed oriented self-starter with a high degree of integrity.
ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Regional Controller with the month end closing process.
- Review entity monthly financial statements, variance analysis and monthly account reconciliations.
- Assist in preparation of monthly financial reporting package.
- Coordinate the quarterly intercompany net settlement of receivables and payables.
- Review A/R Aging reports to ensure collectability and strong cash flow.
- Perform quarterly balance sheet reviews ensuring compliance with Rensa accounting policies.
- Maintain and improve current standard costing systems
ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (CONTINUED):
- Perform profitability analysis on a monthly basis for responsible entities
- Coordinate and assist with year-end inventory counts.
- Assist in the implementation of new ERP Systems at each location.
- Maintain and pay state Sales Taxes for each entity
- Continuously look to incorporate efficiencies into the accounting function.
- Assist Corporate Controller and CFO with other tasks as assigned.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel including, but not limited to look ups, pivot tables, charts, graphs and tables.
- Familiarity with OneStream, IFS and NetSuite a plus (or similar accounting systems / tools).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Solid interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop and maintain effective business partner relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Strong teamwork and project management skills combined with the ability to work as part of a cross functional team.
- Flexibility to adapt quickly to changing circumstances. Able to proactively question and challenge to prioritize and identify solutions in a timely manner.
- Intellectually Curious in and always seeking to understand, learn and find improvement opportunities.
Education and Experience
- BA/BS degree (or equivalent) Finance/Accounting or Business; CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
- 2-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Proven ability to work with all levels of management and foster relationships with financial and operations personnel.
- Must be able to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and organize workload to meet organizational timelines in a high growth environment.
