Job Summary :
A Junior Billing Specialist is responsible for processing medical claims, ensuring billing accuracy, and assisting in the resolution of billing issues. This role will also coordinate with other departments to ensure billing information is correct and resolve issues.
A Junior Billing Specialist possesses a customer-service orientation, enthusiasm for finding solutions, and an ability to resolve issues in support of JCRM’s mission. The ideal candidate will need to be a self-starter with a high attention to detail and organizational skills, as well as well as embody our core values of R.A.I.S.E (respect, adaptability, integrity, service, and empathy). This position is ideal for those looking to start their career in the healthcare industry.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Accurately enter and process medical claims for patients.
- Verify patient’s insurance.
- Bill and code claims according to established rules and regulations using CPT and ICD-10.
- Participate in collections phone calls for the practice and activities involving the computer billing system.
- Post payments from insurance companies and patients to appropriate accounts.
- Assist in identifying and resolving claim denials or discrepancies.
- Respond to patient billing inquiries and provide assistance with payment plans if necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of billing activities according to set guidelines.
- Maintain a regulatory / compliance environment by following organizational policies and procedures to ensure compliance to state, local, and federal standards, and regulations.
- Collaborate with the medical billing team to resolve issues and provide support.
- Other duties or special projects, as assigned.
