About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Manager of Facilities Management to oversee daily facility operations, maintenance, regulatory compliance, and project management for a leading healthcare facility in Salem, VA. This role requires a strategic leader with a strong technical background in building systems, regulatory compliance, and personnel management.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, self-driven, and capable of managing multiple priorities while ensuring that the facility operates at peak efficiency, safety, and compliance. The ability to work collaboratively with technicians, executives, and regulatory agencies is crucial.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilities Maintenance & Operations:
• Oversee daily facility management operations, ensuring seamless maintenance and upkeep.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations.
• Implement training programs and team-building initiatives; conduct annual performance reviews.
• Hire, train, and mentor direct reports, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Plan and assign work orders and preventative maintenance tasks via a CMMS platform.
• Establish safety standards and work permit policies in compliance with OSHA and other regulations.
• Manage vendor contracts, including RFP creation, bid reviews, and service evaluations.
• Operate the facility in an energy-efficient and cost-effective manner.
• Identify talent and leadership traits within the team, supporting internal growth opportunities.
Regulatory Compliance:
• Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including Life Safety Code, Environment of Care, and Emergency Management.
• Maintain all compliance-related documentation using engineering technology platforms.
• Oversee life safety systems maintenance, testing, and inspection.
• Conduct and evaluate emergency preparedness drills and develop emergency management plans.
• Participate in the Environment of Care Committee to maintain safety and regulatory adherence.
• Implement Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM) and Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA) to mitigate operational risks.
Project Management:
• Assist the Director of Facilities Management (DFM) in managing construction and renovation projects while minimizing operational disruptions.
• Review project plans, submittals, budgets, and timelines to ensure compliance with facility guidelines.
• Act as the liaison between hospital maintenance teams, architects, engineers, and contractors.
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, and pay applications, taking corrective actions as necessary.
• Ensure all facility upgrades meet regulatory standards and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field required.
• 4-6 years of experience in acute care facility management, including major utility systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, medical gases).
• Minimum 5 years of facility management experience in a supervisory/managerial role (or 7 years as a lead technician).
• Certification in CHFM, CHC, or CHE is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, CMS, Joint Commission, and other relevant regulatory standards.
• Experience with CMMS and engineering technology platforms for facility management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Salary : $90,000 - $100,000
