The Rescue Mission is seeking an experienced Shift Coordinator for our Emergency Shelter in Syracuse, NY. This is an essential leadership role in which you ensure high-quality, client-centered services during the 3rd shift (9:30PM - 7:30AM). As a Shift Coordinator, you’ll be responsible for leading and supporting a dedicated team while ensuring the safety, well-being, and care of our clients. You will collaborate with staff, clients, and community partners, embodying the mission, vision, and values of the Rescue Mission.
Duties & Responsibilities:
As the 3rd Shift Shelter Coordinator you will be responsible for creating and maintaining a supportive team environment and ensuring high-quality client services throughout the shift. Your key responsibilities include:
- Staff Management: Assist Program Managers in staff management, including recruitment, training, coaching, and leading a team dedicated to providing excellent care to clients.
- Leadership: Foster a collaborative and caring atmosphere that aligns with The Rescue Mission’s values, building rapport, promoting teamwork, and solving problems together.
- Operational Oversight: Monitor staff performance, ensure compliance with policies, and maintain confidentiality in managing shelter data and client information.
- Crisis Management: Handle incidents, grievances, or complaints, addressing issues quickly and effectively while maintaining professionalism and a calm demeanor.
- Client Services: Ensure quality services are provided to shelter clients, including overseeing the implementation of best practices and client confidentiality.
- Scheduling & Staffing: Maintain appropriate staffing levels for shifts, ensuring seamless 24/7 coverage, including evenings, weekends, and on-call hours.
- Meetings & Reporting: Attend required meetings, maintain accurate records, and actively participate in promoting a safety-first culture within the team.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in human services, health services, or a related field or equivalent work experience required.
- Master’s Degree preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours including 2nd & 3rd shifts and weekend hours.
- Cell phone/smart phone required for communication.
- Flexibility to adapt to a changing environment and schedule.
- Passion for the mission and vision of the Rescue Mission, and a commitment to helping vulnerable populations.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License in compliance with company driving criteria.

Rate of Pay:
- $61,000.00 annually.
Work Schedule:
- Sundays through Thursdays, 9:30pm - 7:30pm.
