All internship positions are designed to give college students an opportunity to apply techniques learned in an academic setting while obtaining new skills. This is a paid internship offering full-time hours during the summer months. All interns are required to conclude the program by giving a formal presentation on their work. Please note that no relocation assistance or sponsorship is provided for the internship program at this time.
Position Summary:
The intern position is in the flow QC lab. The following intern will be performing flow cytometry experiments under the guidance of the flow QC manager and /or supervisor and mentor.
Project one: To test various blocking reagents to use in flow cytometry mitigate irrelevant background staining. The goal of this project is to reduce the retest rate and improve product turnaround time to the customer.
Project two: To test various freezing methods of primary cells for use in flow cytometry QC testing. The goal of this project is to improve the overall turnaround time for flow tests that utilize human T cells and NK cells. The cells are expanded by another group and we want to investigate if these can be used in other QC tests.
Key Responsibilities:
Cell culturing (growing , passaging and freezing)
Simple reagent preparation
Flow cytometry
Aseptic technique

Program Requirements:
Must be a currently enrolled student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the internship
Must have completed (at minimum) the sophomore year of college
Must be able to work full-time during the duration of the internship program
Experience Qualifications:
Basic lab experience
Pipet and microscope use is preferred
Flow cytometry (optional)
