Job Description
General Description
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager, with ample background in the field of Puerto Rican studies to manage CENTRO’s new 2-year, Mellon-funded Diaspora Solidarties Lab initiative. This research initiative will consist of annual research and community fellowship programs, programming, and events, including large scale events such as symposiums and retreats for fellows and staff. The Project Manager will report directly to CENTRO’s Director.
Other Duties
- Working closely with CENTRO Director and Director of Research Programs to develop and implement all Diaspora Solidarites Lab programming, including day-to-today administration involved with contracting and compensating internal and external grant initiative partners.
- Manage and reconcile Diaspora Solidarites Lab budget, in collaboration with CENTRO’s Director of Operations and Budget Manager.
- Coordinate annual research and community fellow recruitment and onboarding.
- Coordinate travel and logistics for Diaspora Solidarites Lab projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- PhD in the humanities or the humanistic social sciences
- 2-3 years of project management experience
- Experience working with scholars, researchers, and artists
- Fluency in both Spanish and English
- Knowledge of Puerto Rican Studies

These functions include legal assessment and signing of agreements where RFCUNY is named as a fiscal agent; setting up award accounts; preparing sub-awards and assisting PIs in monitoring the work of the recipients of sub-awards; supporting project directors with hiring and managing research project and sponsored program staff; supporting the purchasing and paying for goods and services with grant and program funds; managing financial aspects of projects including accounts receivable, financial reporting, invoicing, budget monitoring, and cost compliance with uniform guidance; ensuring that sponsor financial requirements are met; monitoring compliance with applicable project and financial management rules and laws; supporting the management of independent and external audits and financial reviews; and providing data, information, management expertise, and other supports to CUNY’s research and sponsored programs.
