Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is ideal for a strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels in team leadership, and has a strong ability to manage vendor relationships. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for operational improvements and be a proactive problem solver. This role involves using our inventory system (NetSuiteERP) to monitor inventory levels, analyze sales volumes and trends, and creating Purchase Orders (and buying plans) to ensure optimal stock availability for our catalog and online sales channels. The ideal candidate is analytical, a strategic thinker, is comfortable with planning and hands-on execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee purchasing operations, including vendor relations, purchase orders, and inventory management
- Develop and implement profitable purchasing strategies to enhance efficiency and fill rates
- Prioritize shipments with vendors and resolve out-of-stock issues proactively
- Continuously improve processes and document procedures for better team efficiency
- Place purchase orders with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of products to meet sales demands.
- Ensure product accuracy in terms of descriptions, lead times, stock levels, and demand planning systems
- Work closely with merchandising and customer service/sales to forecast demand and adjust purchasing plans accordingly
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating prices and terms to meet cost objectives.
- Identify opportunities for inventory optimization and cost savings.
Qualifications:
- Experience with purchasing systems (NetSuite preferred).
- Experience with purchasing in a retail environment (Apparel preferred).
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent negotiation and relationship management abilities.
- Proficiency in demand planning.
- Exceptional communication and team collaboration skills.
- Bachelor's degree preferred - Supply Chain Management, or a related field a plus.
