Position Overview: Resound Energy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to oversee and manage the company’s financial operations. This position will be based at our Woodinville, WA office, and will require close collaboration with senior management, accounting teams, and external partners. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in construction accounting, a strong background in financial reporting, and proficiency in Viewpoint Spectrum software.
Candidate Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller or senior accounting role
- At least 2 years of experience working with Viewpoint Spectrum Software
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction accounting
- Proven ability to manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and cash flow management
- Availability for full-time work at Resound Energy's Woodinville, WA office
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee Monthly Accounting Cycle:
- Supervise a two-person accounting team, ensuring accuracy and timely completion of all financial tasks.
- Manage all Accounts Receivable (AR) responsibilities, including billing, collections, and reconciliation.
- Oversee the Accounts Payable (AP) function, including managing the AP manager and approving weekly check runs.
- Supervise the payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate payments for employees.
- Lead the monthly closing process, ensuring financial statements are prepared in accordance with company policies and deadlines.
Manage Financial Records and Cash Position:
- Approve weekly AP check runs and ensure cash flows are managed effectively.
- Provide monthly forecasts of profit and loss (P&L), coordinating with the Project Management (PM) Manager on invoice needs.
- Monitor and report on weekly cash positions to maintain adequate liquidity for business operations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with creditors, ensuring favorable credit terms to support company operations.
- Address and resolve problematic AR issues, ensuring timely collection of outstanding balances.
Internal Controls and Financial Reporting:
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the integrity of financial reporting.
- Prepare and maintain a monthly Work in Progress (WIP) report, supporting percentage-of-completion revenue recognition and project profitability.
Collaboration with External Partners:
- Manage relationships with Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) and assist in quarterly CPA reviews.
- Produce monthly financial reports for review by senior management and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate with bonding partners to ensure the company's bonding needs are met and provide the required reporting for project bonding.
Risk Management and Legal Documentation:
- Oversee legal documentation processes, including lien notifications, invoicing terms, and contract management.
- Establish and enforce payable terms and conditions with vendors and subcontractors.
- Manage legal issues related to accounting and finance, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Oversee employee documentation, including offer letters, employee handbooks, and termination documents.
Annual Tax Preparation:
- Coordinate with external tax advisors to prepare and file the company’s annual tax returns.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all tax-related documentation and reporting.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of construction accounting principles and practices
- In-depth knowledge of financial reporting, cash flow management, and internal controls
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and external partners
- Proficient in Viewpoint Spectrum Software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Compensation and Benefits:
- $140,000 - $170,000
