JOB SUMMARY
Privately owned Seattle/Eastside homebuilder seeks an Accounting Specialist that is excited about being part of a vibrant, growing company. The Accounting Specialist oversees specific accounting responsibilities and provides general support for all aspects of the department’s day-to-day activities by performing the following duties. Experience with a home builder is a plus, but not required.
JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are the duties associated with being an Accounting Specialist. Other duties may be assigned.
- Monitor bank balances, update Checks Paid spreadsheet, transfer funds as needed, record transfers in GL
- Deposit checks received in office, research and record in GL
- Reconcile bank accounts
- Approve permit and other debit card purchases, transfer funds if necessary
- Record debit card transactions in GL. Coordinate w/ AP Department regarding A/P payments for large batches and single payments. Assist AP Department in entering invoices when needed.
- Process loan draws and verify invoices are accurate
- Coordinate the preparation, maintenance & evaluation of loan draws.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Prepare and record journal entries, account reconciliations, account analysis, accrual calculations, and other related accounting documents/schedules.
- Manage the period-end closing process.
- Research and prepare variance analysis and explanations.
- Prepare and publish timely periodic reporting requirements packages.
- Execute ad hoc reporting deliverables.
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
- Maintain Microsoft Dynamics (accounting software) security and set up.
- Encourage and support a culture of Continuous Improvement to improve process efficiency, performance, and well-being.

Education/Experience
- Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or a related discipline desired.
Language Ability

- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
Reasoning Ability
