We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Pressroom Supervisor to join our team at Best Label - Cerritos in Cerritos, CA. The Digital/Flexo Pressroom Supervisor will be responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of digital/flexo press operators by performing the following duties on the 3rd shift.

 

The expected hours for this position is 9:00 PM - 5:30 AM.

Responsibilities

  • Manages production schedules and verifies required materials are available in advance of an order.
  • Directs setup and adjustments of presses with high attention to detail.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Holds a strong understanding of company policies for workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Interprets specifications and job orders for workers and assigns duties, establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency and/or reduce setup time, equipment downtime and production scrap.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals and provides training and guidance.
  • Trains new Operators on the proper and safe use of tools and equipment.
  • Maintains production records in an efficient and organized manner.
  • Confers with other members of the management team to coordinate the activities of individual departments.
  • Keeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standards.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervises personnel in the Digital/Flexo Department and other areas where assigned.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; five plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in digital printing.

  • Previous supervisory or lead experience of at least two years, with a successful track record for leading teams.

  • Five plus years of production experience in a manufacturing environment. Printing, packaging or similar industry experience is required.

  • Must be able to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals and effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and management.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and complete paperwork.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to read and interpret ruler, scales and other measurement devices
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without mechanical assistance; loads over 50 pounds require the use of mechanical devices or other personnel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
