Description
The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for providing accounting and clerical support to credit union personnel & Maintain accounting document files, including daily work and accounts payable. This position will also Perform accounting duties of moderate complexity in accordance with standard procedures of the credit union & assist accounting personnel as requested.
Position Responsibilities:
- Monitor, post, and reconcile incoming and outgoing wires. ACH transactions, ATMs, and credit union accounts.
- Verifies accuracy, completeness, and consistency of accounting information received.
- Post, balance, and reconcile general ledgers or subsidiary ledgers as assigned
- Process return items for the Federal Reserve Bank, exceptions to daily share draft clearing report, and overdrawn accounts. Maintain and balance cash letter availability account.
- Balance and post money orders and cash advances
- Process and post credits to corporate accounts. Process expense reports.
- Assist Accounting Department personnel as needed.
- Maintain regular contact with other departments and branches to obtain and convey information and/or to correct transactions.
Requirements
- Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- 1-2 years of proven experience in financial institution accounting. Previous Credit Union experience desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent excel skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize in a time sensitive and multi-tasked environment.
- Knowledge of general ledger accounting principles.
- Proficiency with basic bookkeeping procedures.
- Attentive to detail and accurate.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Stationary work, often requiring standing or sitting for prolonged periods
- Operate standard office equipment and keyboards
- Visually recognize, reconcile, and verify numerical details for accuracy
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Must be able to access and navigate facility with reasonable accommodations
- Lift and carry small parcels, packages and other items
