Seasonal Summer Camp Dorm Counselor
ReSOURCE LEAP Program
Position dates: June 16 - July 17, 2025 (first week is training).
Total compensation includes hourly rate ($14.75 per hour) based on full-time employment (range is $800-$850 per week) plus room and board.
Are you seeking a summer filled with FUN and IMPACT? Do you like working with teenagers? Do you want to lead? Join us at ReSOURCE with the LEAP team! We are seeking leaders to supervise a summer residential program for youth who are blind or visually impaired. No prior experience working with this population is required.
Counselors live in dormitories at Saint Michael’s College outside of Burlington, VT with youth for 4 weeks, from June 21 - July 17. Counselors attend one week of full-time paid training in the dorms.
Counselors support participants to reach their fullest potential by teaching them independent living skills (laundry, cooking, getting up on time) and supervising evenings which include cooking, clean up, and fun activities.
Job Description:
· Supervise participants in the dormitories:
o Monday – Thursday: Support participants to wake up on time, prepare for their work day, and access public transportation to their worksite. Counselors greet participants when they arrive home to the dorm; support meal making, evening activities and chores.
o Friday: Support evening activities.
o Saturday & Sunday: Support daytime and evening activities in the community and at the dorm.
· Ensure participants transition each day to their worksite or activities.
· Respond to needs overnight as required.
· Create a nurturing, positive, and professional environment.
· Administer behavior protocol as directed and document all behavioral incidents in partnership with LEAP Staff.
· Monitor safety and administer medical protocol as directed.
· Communicate daily with LEAP Staff and Worksite Trainers to share updates and navigate challenges.
· Participate in weekly LEAP Staff meetings to review participant progress, communicate updates, and manage challenges.
· Support LEAP Staff to complete end-of-program participant reports.
· Ensure that all participants have completed the End of Program feedback survey.
Minimum Qualifications
· Demonstrated capacity for supervising and teaching youth with multiple barriers in a fun, friendly, and responsible manner.
· Demonstrated leadership experience.
· Possess excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work in a fast paced, high-energy environment.
· Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and access to reliable personal transportation.
· First Aid/CPR certified (provided if necessary).
· Willingness to undergo a criminal background check.
