Job Description
The Civil Project Engineer will work directly with clients and collaborate with team members to design innovative solutions to diverse challenges in Alaska. Our Land Development design team works on various site and infrastructure design projects from inception through planning, design, and support of construction efforts for a wide variety of public- and private-sector clients all across the state of Alaska. The Civil Project Engineer will lead full-time civil Engineers-in-Training (EITs) and interns in preparing professional work products, including civil site design, site grading, roadway design, parking design, accessibility design, stormwater management design, water and wastewater utility design, interdisciplinary design coordination, along with other typical civil engineering tasks as required. Job Description
The Civil Project Engineer will work directly with clients and collaborate with team members to design innovative solutions to diverse challenges in Alaska. The Civil Project Engineer will lead full-time civil Engineers-in-Training (EITs) and interns in preparing professional work products, including civil site design, site grading, roadway design, parking design, accessibility design, stormwater management design, water and wastewater utility design, interdisciplinary design coordination, along with other typical civil engineering tasks as required. Additional responsibilities include:
- Providing technical expertise to develop and review project designs, plan drawings, engineering reports, technical specifications, and other contract deliverables for feasibility, technical accuracy, and quality
- Tracking project progress within established project scopes, budgets, and schedules, and alerting project managers of any issues that may affect them
- Working on multiple projects simultaneously, proactively collaborating with team members and clients to resolve technical challenges
- Supervising, mentoring, and guidingproject design development with staff EITs and interns
- Supporting other RESPEC market sectors on design projects as workload dictates
- Preparingclear and concise written communications and participatingin client and team meetings
- Presenting design projects, as required, as part of public outreach to clients and the public
- Conducting research and writingtechnical portions of proposals to assist in bringing in new work
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Alaska Professional Civil Engineer license, or ability to obtain within 1 year of start date
- 5 years of licensed civil engineering experience with an emphasis on design
- Demonstratedexperience in civil site design, earthwork, site grading, stormwater management, roadway design, utility design, and permitting
- Demonstratedability to manage contracts on multiple projects concurrently
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook)
- Demonstratedability to inspire, motivate, and manage a team
- An eye for detail and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- 4 years of cold region engineering experience
- 5 years of Alaska residency
- Ability to train, mentor, and/or lead others
- Coursework in Project Management and/or PMP certification
- AutoCAD and Civil 3D proficiency.
