Job Description
Respond, Inc is seeking a Instructor - Automotive to help support our North Camden facility. This experienced hire should be organized, energetic and someone who will dedicate themselves to the mission of Respond. Inc. This position requires thorough knowledge of intricate automotive systems and advanced automotive systems diagnostic skills.

Respond, Inc. is a charitable, not for profit 501 (c) (3) organization created by community residents to enhance and promote the economic independence and general welfare of individuals and families residing in Camden City and county. This mission is carried forth in the provision of comprehensive services in childcare, auto technology and culinary arts programs, rental housing and home ownership, youth services, economic development and associated programs that help people help themselves.

Specific Responsibilities
- Teach automotive courses to students with an interest in becoming automotive technicians and working in automotive or transportation industry.
- Support Respond, Inc students as they further develop their automotive technology skills, professional attitudes, and behaviors, for workplace success.
- Facilitate student learning, provide effective instruction, and perform evaluations of student learning for all assignments, using each course’s standard course outline and specific requirements as guides.
- Become an expert in course materials, and prepare lectures, hands-on activities, and presentations for effective teaching.
- Be available to students via email, phone, or personal conferences. The method of contact and hours of availability should be clearly communicated to the students throughout the training sessions.
- Assign grades and maintain course/student records and hours taken throughout the year.
- Strive for excellence in teaching, applying best practices in field of discipline, and modeling behaviors that encourage student success and retention. Utilize innovative teaching strategies to meet the learning needs of a diverse student population.
- Maintain office hours to meet with students outside of the classroom and respond to questions or concerns.
- Receive training by staying current in technology that promotes student learning, including learning and using manufacturers’ software when applicable.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with Camden County automotive industry/workforce to help facilitate job placement.
- Serve on standing and ad hoc committees, advisory boards, hiring committees when available.
- Demonstrate a sense of connection and responsibility for helping Respond, Inc to achieve success through a commitment to its mission, vision, and values.
- Communicate effectively, share vision, focus on people, initiate positive change, value differences and foster collaboration. Work with and inspire others to achieve college, department, and individual success. Proactively identify/address problems.
- Establish an inclusive environment in the classroom. Demonstrate an understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of the students, staff and community.
- Participation in continual assessment and course updates to ensure excellence in meeting program and student learning outcomes.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in a related area from a regionally accredited college or university required. A minimum of five (5) years of recent, relevant professional work experience in the automotive repair field is required.
- ASE Master Certified Technician credentials a must.
- Ability to use common software programs (MS Word/Excel/Outlook etc.), excellent verbal and written communication skills, and great interpersonal skills required.
- Some form of academic instruction at the college level would be desirable but not required in place of experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
