How to Apply
What You Will Do
As a Field Automobile Damage Appraiser, you will be responsible for appraising automobile damage to determine repair costs for insurance claim settlement. You will also prepare repair cost or cost estimates and recommendations and work with automotive repair shops to seek agreement on repair costs.
The ideal candidate can make informed decisions considering data, options, and potential impacts. Good negotiation skills. Strong analytical attention to detail. Good organizational skills.
Territories will include both Miami-Dade and Broward.
Essential Duties include:
- Examines the damaged vehicle to determine the extent of structural, body, mechanical, electrical, or interior damage.
- Estimates cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each damaged item.
- Reviews repair cost estimates with the body shop manager or foreman.
- Negotiates with repair facilities cost-effective solutions for issues that may arise throughout the repair process.
- Completes inspection reports with a high level of detail and in accordance with industry standards.
- Determines feasibility of repair versus replacement of parts, such as bumpers, fenders, and doors.
- Evaluates practicality of repair as opposed to payment of vehicle market value before the accident.
- Determines valuations on total vehicle loss.
- Prepares insurance forms to indicate repair cost estimates and recommendations.
- Provides technical support to claim handlers on vehicle repair issues.
- Applies knowledge of market value and other factors affecting reparability issues.
- Answers inbound calls and making outbound calls to customers.
- May occasionally require interacting with parties who express strong emotions or concerns about ongoing inspections or claim resolutions.
- Provides exceptional customer service throughout the claims process, addressing inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Keeps management apprised of developments.
- Sets priorities with regards to scheduling inspections, etc.
- Maintains a high level of technical knowledge in the automotive repair industry.
- Maintains detailed, accurate and timely records.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bilingual Spanish/English
