Summary of Position:
Welcome and warmly greet guests on arrival. Manage the efficient and timely seating of our guests to a table that best serves their wishes. During your shift you may be required to take direction from either the MIC or GM. At times, a “non-manager”, such as a server/shift lead, may be assigned shift control and you will be expected to follow their direction.
Essential Functions:
- Warmly and graciously greet all guests upon arrival.
- When possible, open the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant.
- When immediate seating is limited, record guest names and number of people in party.
- Call out name and number of party when tables become available.
- Provide guests with estimated waiting time.
- Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible.
- Seat guests based on guest preferences and balancing of customer flow in service stations.
- Upon seating, offer guests a menu and inform them of their server’s name. Inspect table for proper presentation and completeness.
- Relay messages to servers and bus persons as needed.
- Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return.
- Answer phones and assist with take-out ordering.
- Takes carry-out/curbside orders by phone or in person. Helps complete orders and transactions or assist carry-out/curbside team if applicable.
- Complete assigned station side work and light cleaning duties.
- Be ready and willing to assist other servers, bartenders and hostesses as needed.
- Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.
- Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the MIC.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- 18 years of age (21 where required by law)
- Preferably 1 year of relevant experience
- Have the necessary stamina to work on feet for up to 10 hours including stooping, reaching, bending, twisting and lifting/carrying loads up to 50 lbs.
- Be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and respectfully in the predominant language of our guests and team
- Must have exceptional grooming habits.
