JOB SUMMARY
The Front office Medical Receptionist is responsible for moving the patients through the intake and checkout process. Front Office Medical Receptionist must ensure that all procedures, from pulling the correct patient files to charting insurance information, are closely followed so that the therapists may concentrate on the well-being of the patients. Front Office Medical Receptionist must process the client’s information and insurance claims in a timely fashion.
Specific Job Duties:
- Provide excellent customer service to our patients, visitors, and clinician staff.
- Answer incoming calls, schedule appointments, and referrals on a daily basis.
- Prepare new records, files, and maintains records.
- Conduct Patient registration which includes verifying benefits, obtaining referrals, and authorizations.
- Prepare billing packets of each day for the billing department
- Take clear and concise phone messages and return phone messages within 24 hours.
- Collect co-pays, deductibles and inquire on previous balances
- Prepare charts for the next day
- Scan charts electronically on a weekly basis.
- Create new patient packets and charts
- Keep front area neat and tidy always
- Copy medical information as requested following proper procedures
- Distribute mail and handle routine correspondence
- Distribute incoming reports and correspondence and files in patient charts or presents to professional staff
- Cross-train to perform back office duties or new administrators when needed.
Skills/Qualifications:
High School Diploma
1-2 years of work experience in medical coding, benefits verification, and EHR systems preferred.
Ability to work weekends when needed
