What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult Discipleship Director position at Resurrection, A United Methodist Church?
Job Summary
The Adult Discipleship Director – Brookside is the church’s leader of discipleship ministries and programs at the Brookside location. As a member of the Adult Discipleship Team, he or she will partner with Location Adult Discipleship Directors under the direction of the Adult Discipleship Lead Director as well as the Location Pastors to create discipleship strategies and then implement those strategies that engage every adult in further study, community, and ultimately small groups. He or she will work alongside the Location Pastor and Location Operations Director to build out a diverse calendar of engagement consisting of opportunities geared toward men, women, 55 as well as the community at large all of which will lead toward small group engagement. The Adult Discipleship Director - Brookside will also be responsible for building a team of volunteer leaders and hosts that will ensure a consistent experience across all discipleship ministries and programs.

- Provide direction to adult discipleship ministries and programs through continual assessment and evaluation, holding ministry accountable to key metrics and benchmarks that not only track activity, but ultimately yield quantitative growth in engagement and participation.
- Develop or modify ministries and programs to meet the needs, fulfill the potential, and accomplish the vision of the Church of the Resurrection.
- Provide spiritual leadership, looking for opportunities to minister to and disciple and encourage others to grow in Christ through one-on-one conversations and invitations to discipleship opportunities.
- Build effective teams, identifying high-capacity leaders and equipping people for ministry.
- Recruit, manage, motivate, and equip volunteers.
- Collaborate with other areas of ministry to design or deliver programming.
- Oversee the direction of special events such as conferences, meetings, seminars, or retreats.
- Prepare and deliver messages and teachings in class, group or conference settings.
- Counsel individuals regarding spiritual questions and concerns, directing them to further pastoral care when necessary.
- Maintain an active and visible presence in the community.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a combination of equivalent education and experience; a Master of Divinity or Master of Theology is preferred but not required.
- Ordination as an Elder or Deacon within the United Methodist Church is preferred, but not required.
- Proven Results in growing churchwide discipleship programs and implementing systems that engage a congregation in spiritual formation and discipleship with clear entry points and pathways that lead them toward deep commitment.
