Telephone Triage
This position requires great verbal communications skills in a busy, high paced environment. Operators are expected to field calls quickly and effectively route patients to correct area within the clinic. Job responsibilities may also include entering patient data into and retrieving/sending patient records.
- Answers high volume of calls for extended periods with nominal time between calls
- Confirms patient appointments and other relevant information.
- Answers/triage patient phone calls, voicemails and return calls within 24-48 hrs., making decision and judgment for patients’ welfare.
- Maintain an organized and effective work area
- Speak with patients, other medical clinics/doctors, attorneys and third parties regarding patient appointments and record requests
- Interact positively, friendly, and professionally with physicians, patients/family, office staff, hospital staff, insurance companies, and others.
- Communicate with all medical office staff and provider to maintain smooth clinic flow.
- Document all transactions, phone conversation, treatments, and orders in the patient medical record.
- Speak clearly and concisely and develops good rapport with callers. Must have proper phone verbiage and etiquette
- Listens well. Asks for clarification as appropriate. Demonstrates respect for others.
- Utilizes initiative and strives to maintain high level of productivity.
- Solves practical problems and manage a variety of variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
- Responds to issues and make decisions in a timely manner.
- Communicates clearly and professionally with callers/patients and staff members to ensure high standard of satisfaction, loyalty and retention.
- Ensure professionalism while maintaining excellent patient service.
- Maintain patient confidentiality, comply with HIPAA privacy act.
- Develop specific goals and plans, keeping up to date, applying new knowledge to prioritize, organize and accomplish your work.
- Perform any and all other office tasks as directed by Retina Associates of South Texas, PA.
- Adheres to policy/procedures of organization.
- Attendance is an essential function and must be adhered to.
