The position of Lead Billing Specialist is Full-time and benefited, working Monday-Friday and designed for a hybrid work schedule in a split week between in office at our ADMIN location in Vancouver, WA and remote. Lead Billing Specialist: Under the direction of the Patient & Business Services Manager, the Lead Billing Specialist serves as the primary contact for the Billing Team, troubleshoots billing issues, and provides training to the billing staff. The position will cross-train for all Retina Northwest Billing positions, including, but not limited to, Charge review, Payment Entry, Insurance A/R, Patient A/R, Credit Balance Management and Reporting. This position would work patient and insurance A/R, assist in Research Department Billing, perform qualify assurance audits, update Policies & Procedures, and more.
Knowledge of insurance payers including Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurances. Charge entry, CPT and ICD10 coding. Excellent customer service skills: friendly, polite, professional and confident. Strong organizational skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Hardworking, detail oriented, and strongly self-motivated.
Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities: EHR/EPM experience required (Nextech experience desirable); excellent communication and interpersonal skills; 45 WPM; 10-key of 11,000 , flexibility and adaptability; critical thinking; detail oriented; critical thinking; team focus.
Education – HS Diploma or equivalent required
Experience – Minimum of three years medical office billing experience required; Office experience in Ophthalmology highly desirable.
Physical/Mental demands - Prolonged standing, sitting, infrequent bending, twisting, and stooping. Ability to assist patients in emergency situations including falls to minimize impact, in a unplanned descent to the floor or an extension thereof. May team lift 25-40 lbs. Manual dexterity for phone, office machines, and computer functions.
