Description
RETTEW has an immediate opening for a full-time, mid-level experienced geophysicist based in Eastern PA with regular travel throughout the mid-Atlantic region and occasional travel further afield. The work is a mixture of engineering, environmental, and archaeological projects. The ideal candidate should be able to conduct field surveys using EM, MAG, microgravity, seismic refraction, reflection, and MASW, GPR, Electrical Methods (ERI, SP, IEEE), and utility mapping. Borehole logging experience would be a plus. Software capabilities should include all standard geophysical packages associated with the above-listed techniques, and Surfer, Grapher, and Excel. AutoCAD experience would be a plus. The position will be a mixture of fieldwork and data processing/report writing, as well as client interaction and management. The ideal candidate should be able to mentor/train less-experienced staff as needed. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing geophysical projects and leading cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:
Technical Responsibilities
- Uses prescribed methods to perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment
- Collects, processes, and interprets geophysical data using advanced techniques and equipment.
- Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, and recognizes discrepancies in results
- Performs research, conducts investigations (office and field), and writes reports and opinions
Program, Project, and Task Management
- Plans, coordinates, and manages geophysical projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and budget.
- Develops project proposals, budgets, and schedules.
- Collaborates with clients, stakeholders, and team members to define project requirements and deliverables.
- Ensures compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Prepares and presents technical reports, findings, and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
- Provides technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
- Stays updated with the latest advancements in geophysical methods and technologies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in collecting and processing geophysical data and managing geophysical projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with myriad geophysical software packages
- Project/client management experience
- OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER-trained
- Passion for fieldwork with the ability to lead a technical field team
- Strong technical writing skills
- Strong problem-solving skills; attention to detail
- Willingness to travel (sometimes on short notice); periodic overnight travel; occasional project -specific extended travel
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems/breakdowns in the field
- Well-mannered, and the ability to get along with multiple co-workers
- Motivated to progress in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities concurrently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in geophysical software and tools.
