What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Thought Leadership / President's Chief of Staff position at Reut USA?
General
Reut USA is looking to hire a Thought Leadership Coordinator and Executive Assistant for the President of Reut USA, Gidi Grinstein, who will be responsible for driving the thought leadership work of Reut USA and TOM, and specifically supporting Gidi in this regard. This position may cover a broad range of topics including, but not limited to, Word Jewry and American Jewry; Israel, Arab-Israeli relations and Middle East politics; Jewish and Zionist thought; social and technological innovation. Much of the work will be based on Gidi's published writings including Gidi’s books, Flexigidity and (In)Sights. Hence, mastery of Hebrew and English in both writing and speaking is essential. This position requires in-person presence 3-4 days per week. Our office is located close to Columbus Circle in Manhattan.
Measurement of Success
- A consistent stream of external and internal communications including newsletters, updates, articles, podcasts, social media,...
- A stream of income to Reut USA due to Gidi’s public speaking, workshops, etc.
- Media coverage of Reut, TOM and Gidi’s work (working with Reut USA communications team)
- Ability to produce and orchestrate small events e.g. roundtable dinners, parlor meetings, etc.

Responsibilities
- Research of a broad range of subject areas per Gidi’s interests and priorities, which may include diplomacy, economic development or Jewish thought.
- Thought leadership: Helping Gidi write articles and then publish them (with Reut USA communications team). The position will also require supporting media appearances and public speaking.
- Managing Gidi’s websites and social media platforms including uploading and depositing materials and posting on Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram
- The candidate will be responsible for the websites of Reut USA and Reut Institute.
- Supporting Gidi’s book writing substantively (through research) and operationally (e.g. producing audible versions)
- Support Gidi’s internal communications and newsletters such as with team, board and donors.
Requirements
- Passion for knowledge in politics, diplomacy, economics and Jewish thought with the goal of mastering the entire body of knowledge created by Gidi (including books and articles) and by Reut.
- Ability to research, write well and speak across a broad range of issues in English and Hebrew.
- Capability to manage a website including uploading materials and working with a web-designer. We are also looking for capabilities to use various platforms.
- Experience in managing social media platforms.
- Willingness to do mundane assignments as necessary including production of small events, preparing lists, handling logistics, etc.
- Availability for in-person office presence 3-4 days per week in Manhattan.
- Flexibility to accommodate Gidi’s availability and needs including 1-2 early mornings per week or 3-4 hours on Sunday afternoon.
- A combination of ability to put forward an intellectual challenge but also support Gidi's outlook even if and when different from one's own approach.
- References that we can engage. We are unlikely to hire unless we can verify your background.
Strong Candidates

- Demonstrated interest in and passion for issues such as Israel, World Jewry, American Jewry, Zionism, Israeli-Arab and Israeli-Palestinian relations, Middle East, economic development, Jewish thought, innovation.
- Experience publishing for themselves or others on various media platforms.
- Record of super-high ethics of loyalty, collaboration and confidentiality.
- Record of being active on social media.
- Experience in working with a top executive.
- Experience in building, operating or managing websites.
- We would appreciate experience in production of small events e.g. dinners, round tables, etc. of up to 25 people (without a professional producer)
- While we will initially hire for a part-time position, a strong candidate will be open to transitioning an exclusive full time position for 2-3 years.
- Ideally, we are looking for a candidate with a graduate degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 2-4 years of experience. At the same time, seasoned experienced professionals, as well as truly outstanding candidates with undergraduate degrees and no experience are also welcome to apply.
