The Executive Director of Organizational Development will direct/manage/supervise the efforts that focus on improving the organization's capability through the alignment of strategy, structure, people, rewards, metrics, and management processes.


Essential Functions

• Directs the leadership development and organizational development strategies by providing guidance in instituting tactics to develop talent that supports human capital needs for today and the future.

• Leads the orientation of team members providing a cultural immersion experience that includes the standards of behavior.

• Develops and delivers engaging and interactive training opportunities using sound, metric-driven approaches that are based upon adult learning principles by partnering with key subject matter experts.

• Develops working relationships at all levels, maintains an understanding of the business, and provides coaching with identified leaders to achieve high performance.

• Partners with leaders to integrate and implement solutions for development of talent in their areas.

• Drives change management to support the organization's transformation.

• Creates career pathways and succession planning service for those seeking career mobility opportunities.

• Attains all goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the organization's overall mission.

• Is responsible for the fiscal management of department; assures proper utilization of organization's financial resources.

• Manages team members, which includes orientation, development and evaluation of personnel, and monitoring the provision of delivering quality services. Participates in the recruiting, interviewing and selecting of team members following policies, guidelines and applicable laws. Evaluates their performance relative to job goals and requirements. Provides coaching to team members, recommends in-service education programs, and ensures adherence to internal policies and standards.

• Responsible for department's operational excellence; ensures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards. Maintains proper fiscal management.

• Effectively communicates departmental, organization, and industry information to team members, including the executive level.


The successful Executive Director of Organizational Development candidate will:

• Have the ability to work at all levels of an organization with ease, developing effective relationships, coupled with excellent facilitation skills, communication skills, and presentation skills.

• Possess experience in benchmarking and implementing best-in-class strategies, processes, and programs associated with organizational development.

• Develop internal and external strategic relationships and lead diverse, cross-functional teams.

• Influence and sell at all levels of an organization and display the courage to stand behind his/her convictions.

• Demonstrate success partnering with business leaders across functions and geographies to craft customized learning and development strategies.

• Be a team player with strong collaboration skills.

• Develop and use metrics and apply comprehension skills to understand needs and concerns for developing and applying solutions to ensure programs and policies support business objectives and initiatives.

• Lead others and be an effective change agent.

• Be results oriented with a strong commitment to value-driven and outcome-based evaluation.

• Have experience with performance management, professional development and training.

• Manage multiple programs, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and switch between tasks quickly.

• Display knowledge of research, current trends, and best practices related to team member and leadership development.


Experience and Education

10 years of experience in Organizational Development and 5 years of Organizational Development leadership experience is required. Health care experience is preferred.

Bachelor's degree in human resource management, Organizational Leadership or other related field and a master's degree in business, Human Resources Management, Organizational Leadership or another related field is required.

Certification in SHRM or HRCI preferred.
