POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
This position is responsible for efficiently designing, testing, implementing, and completing projects while meeting project specifications and budget requirements. As a Control System Specialist I, you will work in areas of project implementation including panel design, hardware selection, programming, testing, and site support. You will work with relay and PLC based control panel designs including schematics, panel layouts, and bill of material. You will perform design analysis including use sizing, breaker sizing, wire sizing, and short circuit analysis. You will perform in-shop testing and field startups, and you will support Project Management, Sales, Receiving, Drafting, Documentation, Purchasing, Production and Shipping.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Design electrical control panels and systems to meet project specifications and division design standards.
· Coordinate with panel production personnel in the fabrication of control panels.
· Develop procedures and plans for factory and field testing of control panels and systems.
· Develop PLC and HMI applications per project specifications and across multiple platforms using division/industry standards and best practices.
· Direct activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
· Perform “3-Way Check” of Control Panel Drawings.
· Coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems for field installations.
· Technical document writing including Testing Procedures, Training Plans and Sequence of Operations.
· Notify Project Managers, Group Managers, of schedule/budget goals issues.
· Request quotes from vendors and verify quoted equipment meets specification requirements.
· Provide customers with technical support via phone, remote access and onsite service.
· Attend training and continuing education related to industry.
· Use AutoCAD to design electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems.
· Convert panel ideas onto relevant title block format to be used as production type drawings.
· Perform activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
· Create fabrication detail drawings to be sent to a metal fabricator for custom enclosures and related accessories.
· Make revisions to drawings for re-submittal or shipping prints and provide laminated drawings, if necessary, to go in panels before shipping.
· Responsible for AutoCAD file maintenance on the company network.
· Document final changes to products by going to production area, testing area, or jobsite.
· Plot full-size layout plots for cutting templates for door layouts needed by shop when required.
· Provide terminal block lettering on adhesive material for non-standard type terminal blocks when requested by the shop.
· Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND BILITY REQUIREMENTS:
· Must have completed at least two (2) years of educational and/or work experience in control and instrumentation field.
· Minimum of two (2) years educational and/or work experience with AutoCAD preferred OR sufficient AutoCAD training from a school with genuine desire to be trained.
· Ability to assist in designing electrical equipment and components, writing and testing new software programs as well as creating technical specifications and writing operational documentation.
· Basic computer software skills using Microsoft Office Suite, E-Mail, Internet, AutoCAD.
· Experience with electrical schematics required.
· Demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn technical skills.
· Self-motivated and have the ability to design, write and test software and provide hardware services for small projects with significant supervision.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interact with customers, vendors, company employees and subcontractors.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time position, and business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, longer hours, evenings and weekend work may be required.
