Summary:
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides advanced nursing care to clients, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health and substance use disorders. Responsibilities include conducting physical and psychiatric evaluations, prescribing medications, and collaborating with the healthcare team to develop treatment plans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive physical and psychiatric evaluations of clients.
- Diagnose mental health and substance use disorders and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe and monitor psychotropic and other medications, adjusting as necessary to achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes.
- Educate clients and their families about medication regimens, potential side effects, and the importance of adherence.
- Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to support clients' mental health and substance use recovery.
- Collaborate with therapists, counselors, and other clinical staff to ensure coordinated care.
- Educate clients and their families about health promotion, disease prevention, and management of chronic conditions.
- Provide counseling and education on lifestyle modifications and self-care strategies.
- Work closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive and integrated care for clients.
- Communicate regularly with external healthcare providers, service agencies, and community resources.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
- Complete all required reports and paperwork in a timely manner.
- Attend and participate in staff training, work teams, and meetings as directed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory:
This position does not oversee staff.
Qualifications:

Education/Experience
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
- Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
- Valid APRN license to practice.
- Previous experience in mental health or substance use treatment preferred.

Work Environment:
The work is performed in a clinical setting and requires interaction with clinical staff and clients. Potential exposure to emotionally challenging situations. Standard office hours with occasional need for extended hours and on-call hours, including evenings and weekends.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment.
- Previous experience in mental health counseling. Ability to pass a pre-employment health screening.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pound regularly, and up to 50 pounds on occasion.
